Azalea Cocktail

Azalea Cocktail

If you thought scoring a seat at Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour was tricky, try getting tickets to The Masters golf tournament. Lucky patrons at Augusta National are there for the golf, the celebs, and the food. While pimento cheesepulled pork, and egg salad sandwiches are among the concessions sold at the tournament, you’re also likely to spot patrons sipping on a pink drink that’s as pretty as the azaleas on the 13th hole. Named The Azalea, it’s the official cocktail of The Masters — and it’s so much easier to make than it is to win the Green Jacket. Just because you’re watching from the couch doesn’t mean you can’t sip on the very same cocktail you see on the sidelines.

Why You’ll Love It

  • It tastes like spring. The Azalea is bright and lemony with just the right amount of booze for sipping on a warm spring day.
  • Perfectly pink proportions. After tasting the official recipe, I tweaked the proportions to be more balanced and refreshing.

Key Ingredients in the Azalea Cocktail

  • Vodka: Measure 1 1/2 ounces vodka for each cocktail. I love using this miniature angled measuring cup when making cocktails.
  • Lemonade: Choose good-quality store-bought lemonade, or make your own homemade lemonade.
  • Grenadine: This thick syrup sinks to the bottom, which creates a pink ombré effect in the glass.
  • Garnishes: The drink is served in frosted white or green cups emblazoned with the tournament’s logo and garnished with an orange slice and maraschino cherry. Even if you don’t have the cups, the signature fruity finish is a must.
